Willem J. Blaeu portree., Jeremias Falck


Willem Janszoon Blaeu ( 1571 Alkmaar – 21. oktoober 1638 Amsterdam) oli hollandi kartograaf ja kirjastaja, Joan Blaeu (1596–1673) isa.


Ta õppis taani astronoomi Tycho Brahe (1546–1601) juures astronoomiat ja kartograafiat. Tema esimesed tööd ilmusid Guilielmo (Willem) Janszooni nime all. Et vältida enda seostamist samal perioodil Amsterdamis tegutsenud kartograafi Johannes Janssoniusega (1588–1664), lisas ta 1619. a. lisanime Blaeu ning tema järgnevad tööd kandsid nime Willem Jansz. Blaeu.


1635 andis välja kaheköitelise atlase "Theatrum orbis terrarum, sive, Atlas novus" (lühendnimega "Atlas Major").[1]
